Choosing Lazer Colours: What Works for Each Species
Colour can make the world of difference on fussy fish. This is what our guides have found, species by species.
Different species have different colour preferences, and the same fish can change what it wants depending on what it is feeding on. The one rule every Lazer guide agrees on: carry a range of colours and change until the fish respond.
| Mackerel | Silver/chrome or pearl; the red head has also had great success. (Vertical Spinning) |
|---|---|
| Longtail tuna, Queensland | Chrome with silver tape, blue with silver tape, blue with red tape. (Longtails and Lazers) |
| Longtail tuna, WA and NT | The Queensland colours, plus all white. (Longtails and Lazers) |
| Kingfish | Blue colours. (Australian Boating, Brooke Frecklington) |
| Trevally | Some trevallies often climb all over green. (Vertical Spinning) |
| Amberjack | Pink. (Vertical Spinning) |
| Bass | Any colour as long as it is green; a 15g red Lazer has also scored. (Bass on Metal) |
The Lazer comes in 27 colours, from chromes and pearls to mackerel patterns, bait finishes and glow in the dark.
